Thousands of spectators gathered to watch Tennessee State University’s annual homecoming parade as it traveled Jefferson Street from the 14th Avenue intersection to 33rd and John Merritt Blvd. on Saturday.
The parade was led by grand marshals Georgette “Gigi” Peek Dixon, senior vice president and director of national partnerships, government and community relations for Wells Fargo; Alfred Gordon, vice president of operations for Frito-Lay North America; State Sen. Thelma Harper; and Roosevelt “Bud” Reese, chief executive of the CMI Foundation.
Fans of all ages cheered for TSU’s marching band and other performers, politicians and organizations who participated. TSU’s Homecoming parade is one of many events associated with the school’s homecoming weekend, which culminated in a post-game Alumni Victory celebration at the Sheraton Music City Ballroom.
