RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Officials say flooding and severe weather in Virginia closed the state capital’s airport for several hours and trapped some motorists.
With this morning’s closure, flight schedules were significantly disrupted. Passengers are strongly encouraged to check their flight’s status via airline website or mobile app throughout the day.

Richmond International Airport tweeted that it was closing due to flooding for several hours Friday morning. Parts of Interstate 64 also shut down near the airport.
