Karl Scott had been set to work for former Alabama assistant Billy Napier at Louisiana-Lafayette. Instead, he’s going to be working for Napier’s former employer.
The Crimson Tide has hired Scott as its defensive backs coach, AL.com has learned.
AL.com had previously reported that Scott had interviewed for the job and had emerged as a name to keep an eye on for the position.
The Texas native is a highly thought of young coach who has a pre-existing relationship with new Tide assistant Pete Golding, whom he worked with at both Southeastern Louisiana and Tusculum.
Scott was Texas Tech’s defensive backs coach the last two seasons and had just been hired as Napier’s defensive coordinator at Louisiana-Lafayette in December.
Prior to Texas Tech, Scott was Louisiana Tech’s safeties coach in 2015 and Southeastern Louisiana’s defensive coordinator in 2014.
